Providing Cable in the Classroom to Public and Private Schools

Helping 21st Century Educators Develop Digital Citizenship in Public and Private Schools

Bright House Networks is proud to continue its partnership with Cable in the Classroom (CIC), the cable industry’s education foundation. CIC recently launched a powerful and newly enhanced web portal, www.ciconline.org, which strives to make the industry’s technology, content, and community commitment relevant to 21st century educators. CIConline.org reflects the three big priorities for today’s CIC. It offers cable’s strengths to develop “digital citizenship,” a positive and proactive approach to helping kids use digital tools safely and effectively and to assist in the teaching of digital literacy, ethical behavior online, and civic engagement. It strengthens cable’s commitment to making educational programming and online content useful and enriching to education. And it promotes cable’s broadband access and applications as the new platform for effective teaching and learning. CIC also continues to recognize educational leaders who exemplify innovative use of cable technology and services; showcase cable initiatives in education; engage in productive partnerships with education organizations; and work with companies within the industry to continue their efforts to contribute to learning. For more information on the portal as well as the new strategic direction for CIC, contact its Executive Director, Frank Gallagher, at help@ciconline.org, or call 202-222-2335.
